How are the sessions scheduled?
We will meet at the same time and place on a weekly basis. Each session is 50 minutes duration.
Psychodynamic therapy is a long-term approach that aims to get to a deep level and so it is important to maintain consistency to create the container that allows for the deep work to take place.
What do I charge and where will sessions be held?
I charge £50 per session for indoor sessions held at 9 Newton Place, Glasgow, G3.
I charge £45 per session for outdoor sessions held at Pollok Country Park, Glasgow, G43.
If you are struggling financially there is the possibility of a reduced rate, subject to availability.
Cancellation Policy
I require 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Failure to provide such notice will result in the full fee being charged.
Life happens and is sometimes unpredictable. Communication is crucial to keep me informed if you are going to miss a session, and to attempt to reschedule. If you miss two sessions in a row without getting in touch I will have to assume you no longer wish to continue with therapy and I will offer your time to someone else.
My Code of Ethics
“The purpose of a Code of Ethics is to define general principles and to establish standards of professional conduct for psychotherapists in their work and to inform and protect those members of the public who seek their services.” (from UKCP)
All clients have a right to expect me to operate in an ethical manner, with their best interest at the heart of all my work. Most therapists today sign up to a membership body as this comes with a pre-prescribed Code of Conduct that is essentially the agreed parameters within which to work, else you get struck off the registrar and named and shamed. To keep myself right, and to embed my work within an ethical framework that works for me, I have outlined the ethical parameters that feel right to me and within which I personally work.
These are:
I will maintain complete confidentiality.
I will be available at our agreed upon time, and not change this suddenly or without very good reason.
I will attend supervision with a more experienced therapist than me. This is absolutely essential to keep me grounded and help me work through any particular challenges I may be experiencing. This is also completely confidential.
I will ensure my own wellbeing, so I can show up fully for you.
Protecting your safety is paramount. If I feel that you may be of harm to yourself or someone else I would have to break the confidentiality agreement in order to fulfil this. There would always be a discussion about this if it were to arise to maintain full transparency.
Our work together is a partnership and so feedback is always welcome.
I will never abuse the position I hold.
I will be honest about the work we are undertaking.
I will honour the trust placed in me with full reciprocity.
I only offer forms of therapy in which I have adequate training or experience.
I will ensure that my professional work is adequately covered by appropriate indemnity insurance.
I will co-operate with any lawful investigation or inquiry relating to my therapeutic practice.
